Styles
Read and/or watch 'Task Positive Task Negative Leadership' to appreciate the different ways of leading and how they work in the brain. Pay particular attention if there are tight timescales and lots of reporting, i.e. task-oriented circumstances, that you also use the Task Negative, i.e. people-oriented behaviours, to maintain an effective balance and get the best from your staff.
Read 'Emotional Intelligence and Leadership' to appreciate the different styles. Dissonant styles correspond to Task Positive leadership and Resonant styles correspond to Task Negative leadership. Identify the best styles for your team and use them, review regularly as the situation may change.
